How Do You Know if God Is Blocking You From Something?

Some of the hardest pills to swallow is a "no" from God.

But, we proceed pressing in considering it is something we desire then badly. Sometimes we see the signs. And, other times nosotros are blinded by what we desire. More frequently, though, we just don't understand that He is putting upwards roadblocks.

Sometimes, this is God attempting to detour yous back onto the path He intended.

What does a roadblock await like?

A recent roadblock I experienced is a freelance writing opportunity. I write blogs, website copy, and social media posts (plus manage them) for small businesses and individuals. I desire to make information technology a full-time gig.

I had communicated on my Facebook that I needed God to motility in a large way in this direction. Onetime later on, I received a message from a trusted source that a company was looking for freelancers. Wow! God heard, and he opened a door.

Or, so I thought.

Well, non exactly. From the moment I began corresponding, my spirit was hesitant. By the time we got to the details and an audition assignment, the Holy Spirit attempted to intervene and halt me. I had a feeling that this was not the right task for me, for whatever reason.

Naught. Absolutely…NOTHING. I could not write a unmarried discussion. I am used to time crunches and random topics, and then this is an anomaly. Two days go past and withal zip.

Sometimes, it is considering I decline to hear the truth because I want something and then desperately. Other times, I am and so wrapped up in something that I stop hearing His direction. God has to get me dorsum on track somehow. And then, He has to "hit me over the head with a frying pan" to get me to heed.

Information technology hurts! Information technology stings the pride.

When God bonks y'all on the head, you know you are in from some discomfort. It'southward almost like when a parent tells a child over and again not to touch something. Then, when they do information technology for the umpteenth time, the mother or father slaps their paw. It'southward not to cause pain, but to enforce the "No."

When God does information technology, He steps aside to let you have your will and ALL that accompanies it. In this state of affairs, that means I barely slept considering of the stress. My anxiety went through the roof. I became irritable and lost my confidence. And, I began to say to myself, "I'm not smart enough for this," and "you aren't adept plenty."

Sound familiar?

Those aren't God's words or feelings, I can assure you. The enemy is speaking. In fact, he was probably talking the whole time which is why I moved forwards. He is just louder than God; We forget to mind and confirm God's voice before stepping out. The enemy wants to wreak havoc; God wants peace for the states. Maybe, this state of affairs was going to steal my, or my family'southward peace. Perhaps it only wasn't part of His plan correct now. Information technology doesn't thing. The only matter that matters is I had stepped off the path.

The enemy knows the desires of our heart as much as God does.

He uses it against us. He goads u.s. into moving full steam ahead into situations that cease up harmful, unhealthy, or just not the management God has planned. Satan mimics God's voice and signs and so that nosotros think nosotros are hearing from the Lord, when in fact, the enemy is setting up a snare. He'south very clever that Devil.

Ask Him. If y'all don't hear anything, enquire again.

You may be wondering which part of my story is the "frying pan" moment. In truth, I am lucky on this 1. This time it is a lighter smack. I have had other moments that it ultimately rings my bell and knocks me for a loop.

I volition have to explain that I am not going to complete the audition and that information technology is not the right fit for me. I am going to look stupid and dishonest because I said I could do it. I won't be able to explain the "why." I will only exist able to say I tin't.

And not considering I am incapable, but considering God has blocked the path. He has said "no" for whatever reason. And I cull to mind to Him over my pride and desires.
